Coffee with Purpose

As the Seed of Hope Project grew, so did our relationships with the families of the children in our care. Many of these families are coffee farmers who, for years, have asked us, “Will you help us find a market for our coffee?” Out of this need, Seed of Hope Coffee was created to help coffee farming families thrive while continuing the mission of Seed of Hope.

Transforming Communities in Northern Thailand

The Challenge

In Northern Thailand, many hilltribe families struggle with poverty, statelessness, and limited access to education—leaving generations vulnerable to exploitation and trafficking. For decades, farming families relied on opium cultivation in the Golden Triangle as their only means of survival. While government projects introduced alternative crops like coffee, tea, and fruit, farmers continued to face poor market access and unfair pricing.

The Solution: Seed of Hope Coffee

To address these challenges, Seed of Hope Coffee Co. was founded in 2021 with the vision of providing lasting solutions. The company purchases green coffee beans from Akha Hill Tribe farmers at prices higher than fair trade, ensuring families receive fair wages for their labor. Beyond purchasing, Seed of Hope partners with farmers in every step of the process—offering training in sustainable farming, helping with harvest and processing, and opening doors to good markets both in Thailand and abroad.

A key part of this mission is the export of coffee through P-REX Coffee Co. in the United States. P-REX Coffee was founded in 2023 as an extension of the vision and mission of Seed of Hope Coffee. All profits from P-REX Coffee are returned to Thailand to provide additional support to the farmers, their families, and the Seed of Hope mission. This partnership not only connects farmers to a global market but also ensures that every bag of coffee directly contributes to community transformation.

Community Impact

Seed of Hope Coffee also creates jobs within the community by employing local women and refugees to sort and bag coffee, while others find seasonal work in milling and production. Through a local ministry partnership, we also provide opportunities for bean sorting to women rescued from the sex trade, offering dignity and a new path forward. At the Seed of Hope Roastery, daily work is combined with five-day-a-week discipleship, ensuring that every part of the process reflects a testimony that honors Christ.

More Than Coffee

The Seed of Hope Project and Seed of Hope Coffee are deeply connected with the majority of children at the dorm coming from coffee-farming families. This unique relationship allows us to break cycles of poverty not only through economic development, but also through discipleship, education, and support for families and communities.

Sustainable Development Goals

Seed of Hope Coffee is committed to real transformation that also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This commitment is one of the key reasons we partner with Professionals International (PRINT), whose mission includes advancing projects that meet these global standards while keeping Christ at the center.

Our work through Seed of Hope Coffee advances:

  • Quality Education (SDG 4): supporting children through schooling, discipleship, and vocational training.
  • Decent Work & Economic Growth (SDG 8): creating fair jobs for farmers, women, and refugees.
  • Sustainable Cities & Communities (SDG 11): fostering safe housing and stronger communities through the Seed of Hope Project.
  • Responsible Consumption & Production (SDG 12): promoting sustainable farming practices and careful stewardship of resources.

Through our partnership with PRINT, every contribution to Seed of Hope Coffee connects directly to both Christ-centered mission and recognized international standards for sustainable impact—advancing lasting transformation in Northern Thailand.

While the Seed of Hope Project, Seed of Hope Coffee Co., and P-REX Coffee Co. are distinct entities, they are united in purpose and vision to support Akha Hill Tribe families in Northern Thailand. Together, they seek to glorify God by sharing the hope and love of Jesus with all they encounter and by seeing lives transformed through the gospel.
